Anyone invested in Japanese equities over the past six months (or heaven forbid just jumped in last month!) can be excused for looking a bit ‘green about the gills’ these days. After gaining over 33% through April, the Nikkei 225 index continued to soar into early May, adding another 12% before its ‘parabolic’ chart fell apart (as they all eventually do). Japanese stocks ultimately gave back all of May’s early gains and more, to close the month down –0.6% with losses continuing into the current month.
