International Economic and Market Overview October 2013
In an attempt to de-fund the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare, the Tea Party faction of the Republican-controlled Congress presided over a government shutdown that lasted the first 16 days of October. At the final hour, the Senate brokered a deal that reopened the government and raised the debt ceiling, at least until February 7th 2014. The government shutdown has pushed back investor expectations of when the Federal Reserve will begin tapering its stimulus, probably not before the first quarter of 2014. 10_2013_CFAL_International_Economic_and_Market_Overview_Web Click here for full International Market Overview
